The Equine World's rarest coat color is the Double Pearl dilution, originating, as best we can tell, with the Iberian breeds--and is highly desirable in the Andalusian, Lusitano, Arab, Paint and Quarter Horse lines. Less than 20 Double Pearl (Perlas) PREs exist in Spain today. The Double Pearl dilution acts on a base coat color, much in the same way that a Cream or Silver dilution will act on a base color. Unlike the others however, two copies of the Pearl gene are necessary to produce the unique golden/silvery color and apricot mane and tail.

Abbas carries double sets of both Black and Pearl genes, and will always throw one Pearl gene and one Black gene. He was imported from Spain as a yearling, and earlier this year was approved for breeding by the LG Studbook in Spain. He will stand to all breeds. If you have a black mare or a mare that is a pearl-carrier, or you want to own a Pearl carrier of your own, you should consider Abbas for your stallion services.
